St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE  SEPTEMBER 2013

And so we enter our 44th Year

Choir practices start again on Tuesday 3rd September at 8pm prompt! Another busy term, and then, from after Christmas, we'll ease up a bit I promise!

The Fauré Requiem is frighteningly close. Ladies, please will you bring your diaries so that we can sort a ladies-only practice to look at the In Paradisum in detail, and Gentlemen likewise to look at the Agnus Dei and In Paradisum.

Christmas is now well into the planning stage! Assuming the Fauré goes well, we'll be learning new versions of Silent night, Away in a manger and O little town of Bethlehem as well as a lovely new John Rutter carol: click HERE to listen to it - it was first sung at Kings College, Cambridge at last year's Nine Lessons and Carols. Also, my lovely first sopranos, we'll have four new descants!!

The Wind Band element of the Orchestra have been rehearsing since July, so we're late into the game this year!! We have two rehearsals with them ahead of the concert, as many of you will have noticed from the UPDATED DATES LIST.

The first couple of Music Lists are up for viewing on the Web site, those for the 8th September and 6th October.

Looking forward to seeing you all again (yes, really!!!!)
 Tony

Many congratulations

..... to Daniel Battle on being formally appointed Principal Organist to The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest's church The Sacred Heart in Limerick. The institute has recently been granted permission to open their Masses to the public by Bishop Brendan Leahy who was ordained Bishop of Limerick on 14th April 2013.

Next year's Outing

Please do pencil in Sunday 11th May 2014. It's a little earlier than last year's trip, and I'm waiting for things to be confirmed before we can put it in in ink. I'm aiming for another fun and relaxing day out as we had this year, and I have placed myself, once again, in charge of booking the transport!!

This month's Quiz Question

Where in our church would you find a small plaque bearing the name Jeannette Mary Timmins? Answers by the end of the month, please.

We'll draw the lucky winners for July and August on Tuesday!

Please continue to remember.....

Anne M. Mary E. & Frank, and Jo T. in your prayers.

A small someone from YouTube

THIS is quite, quite delightful! Enjoy!!

Now is a really good time.....

..... for new members to be joining. With so much going on it will be an excellent period for people to be deciding if they're going to enjoy working with us all.

Have you anyone in mind? Have you asked them? Have you reminded them?

There seems to be no further news

As I write, there appears to be a distinct lack of movement on the appointment of a new Parish Priest to St. Bart's. The feeling is that there might be a considerable wait, perhaps into the New Year. The good news is that Father Deo remains with us, and we await the Diocese to announce who will be appointed to assist him.
