January's UPDATE

I hope to get a brief issue out between Christmas and New Year.

December & January Quiz

37 carols, one for each day from 1st December until Epiphany, with the first letter of the opening words  of each indicated by snowflakes (T) and letters. How many can you name?! Click HERE for a PDF to print out and complete by hand, or HERE for a Word document, to complete on your iPads, 'phones, computers or whatever. Entries to Tony on or before Tuesday 27th January. There are TWO prizes up for grabs for this one!

November's question: "How would you best describe, within ten words, the depiction portrayed on the reverse of the Crucifix hanging over the altar?".

Most got Christ and Resurrection in their answers, but I was looking for ten or less words reflecting
"The Risen Christ Reaching for His Crown", as stated on the Parish History page on our Web site.

For your coffee breaks

A wonderful, and somewhat angry, Waltz for piano (Op.1 No.6) composed by Nicholas Wilton and performed by Alexei Knupffer is available to listen to from our Web site HERE.

Apart from the watermark on the screen, THIS is a fascinating film of Croydon in 1943.

Do you remember the Rag'n'bone man!? Or remember Sparrowhawks, between the Beehive and the railway line down beside Beehive Bridge in Commonside East, Mitcham?

With tongue in cheek, 10 things NOT to say to a convert!

And finally, a clever piece of advertising from the Daily Telegraph for a new carol book  - a Christmas Carol Advent Calendar.

Prayers, please.....

Jan Marshall's father-law RIP, John Ambler, George Norton, Anne Mitra, Mary & Frank Elliott, Maria Leszczynska & Family. I continue to ask you also for prayers, please, for a Choir member's Private Intention.
