Mass at St. Bede's - Saturday 6th June at 12 noon

Many thanks to those of you who have indicated you will be present for the Jane & John Windsor Ruby Wedding Mass - a few more needed, please. We shall be singing Ave Verum Mozart and Ave Maria Arcadelt in addition the the Prince of Peace Mass. Lunch for the choristers in St. Bede's Club Room after Mass. I do hope you will be able to be there. Jane has run our Plainchant Choir all her married life! As Miss Harvey, she was my Head of Department as a Geography teacher at St. Mary's High School in Croydon many moons ago! Huge congratulations from us all to them both.

Parables - Sunday 14th June 7pm and Rehearsal 13th June 2.30pm

Soloists Rob and Andrew will be in full voice at our Tuesday 9th and Saturday 12th practices. Not long to go now, so please do your utmost to attend the final practices. Our Mass for June is the Lloyd Webber Prince of Peace. We'll be singing it on 6th June at St. Bede's, 7th June at St. Bart's, 28th June at St. Philip's and, finally, on 5th July at St. Bart's.

Concert with Orchestra - Sunday 28th June 7.30 and Rehearsal 2.30pm

Getting close now! The venue is St. Philip's Church, Beech Road, Norbury SW16 4NW. Entry is free, with a retiring collection. Do invite others to swell the audience!

We will have seats for the rehearsal as it will, no doubt, be stop and start for us, but no seats for the concert, which will be a straight sing-through of the Lloyd Webber Mass. Pizza or something between rehearsal and concert perhaps?

June's Quiz Question

Where does the priest wear a cincture at Mass. A nice easy one this month!

Last call! May's Caption Comp.

Click on the picture for a larger image. A prize for each of the two best captions to the picture above!

Entries to me by Sunday 7th June, please.

April's Quiz Question

Surprisingly there were no correct answers to the request for the minimum number of readings liturgically required at the Easter Vigil and which, if any, of the seven are 'must have'? The answer is three, of which the third (Exodus) is compulsory.

Family Choir

My thanks to those of you who have supported me in keeping the Family Choir on course since Monica left. It is much appreciated.

My intention is for them to sing on the second and third Sundays each month in future, with rehearsals on  the Tuesdays before the Masses.

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

My local Catholic Primary School, St. Elphege's in Wallington, were once again very grateful for the huge pile I delivered to them. Many thanks to those of you who help me collect them.

I shall in future be collecting for the 15th Wallington Scout Group. Our son, David, has been part of the leadership team there since he was 15 (he is now 30).

The group exists to provide the scouting experience for young people with additional needs or disabilities. These include: Complex health needs, Mild Learning Difficulty/Disability, Moderate Learning Difficulties/Disability (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties/ Disability (SLD), Mild Speech and Language difficulty, Moderate Speech and Language difficulty, Severe Speech and Language difficulty, SpLD (Specific learning Difficulties), Mobility Disabilities, Angelman Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Communication needs (Speech, Language and Communication), Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Down Syndrome, Social, Mental and Emotional Health, Visual Impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Hearing Impairment, Spina Bifida, Challenging Behaviour, Personal Care Needs, Fragile X, Global Development Delay.

Used postage stamps

I have recently delivered two boxes of stamps to Sandra Davey, the local representative of Support our Soldiers, and she expressed her gratitude to you on behalf of the charity. Please do keep passing them on to me. Just tear them off the envelopes with a rough border around them, save, and pass them on as frequently as you wish. Thank you.

Father Deo

Father Deo will happily be celebrating the 35th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood on the 20th December, the day of our Christmas Concert.

The Rookery, at the top of Streatham Common, celebrated its Centenary in August 2013 - this is the first of three short videos taken on the occasion. The other two follow sequentially if you just let things run...

And, finally, I wonder how many of you are aware of, and members of, The Streatham Society?

Prayers, please.....

.... for Mary Lake's mother and family, Oliva Msahala (Father Deo's mother), Anne Mitra, and Mary & Frank Elliott. I continue to ask you also for prayers, please, for a Choir member's Private Intention.

Please pray also, for Elizabeth, my wife, who has a number of health difficulties that are proving increasingly difficult to manage.
