St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE JANUARY 2018

A HUGE Thank You

The concert was absolutely brilliant (Bernard was right about Silent Night - it was exquisite as you sang it). Sleep! Holy Babe was my abiding favourites you were just so 'with me' it was a pleasure to conduct you! The audience were thrilled with the 'all out' Ring out wild bells! Well done to you all for rising to the occasion so splendidly successfully. The Orchestra's rendition of Jingle Bells was just sparkling!

Midnight Mass was so wonderfully joyous and prayerful. Considering the coughs and colds so many of you were affected by, it went very well. The worst person was the organist, who sounded as if he had eleven fingers on occasions! Sorry!! Huge thanks to Bernard for 'stepping up' to maintain order!!

I'll look forward to raising a glass with you on 2 January! Please do read the note immediately below this, and make a note of my 'phone number if you're likely to arrive late.

Post-Christmas Drinks 2 January: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

I have been advised that the Hall doors need to be either shut or attended when the hall is in use. Avoids unwanted incursions, apparently! As we are upstairs this is a potential problem if people arrive late. There is a doorbell, but it's proved unreliable.

Rather than have someone sitting on the door all evening, please may I ask that you all arrive punctually between 19:30 and 20:00.

If you should be late for any reason, then please note my telephone number 07967 467313 so you can call and gain access.

The New Year (but still Christmas) Jigsaw - changed things a bit this time! Very curvy!! Have you spotted the little symbol bottom-right beneath the puzzle that allows more space on your screen? Drag and drop, and.... Happy New Year!

Concert Videos

Father Innocent, as many of you will have spotted, was up in the gallery taking videos of the Concert on his 'phone.

I have a seen four of them, and there are hopefully another four to come. I *may* share the best of them with you at a future date. Each one is a huge file, far larger than email will cope with.

I'll see if I might be able to put one or two of them up on the Website so that just the readers of Update will be able to view them in all their glory.

Snow at St. Bartholomew's

If it should snow over winter, it would be good to have a 'winter' image of our church should anyone be able to take a decent picture.

Ros is recovering!

Easter 2018

Planning for the Triduum music will start soon!! If anyone has any requests (accompanied music only, please!), then do pass them on to me - I'll consider anything, but promise nothing!!

Happy New Year.....

..... from me to to you and yours. May it bring peacefulness and happiness to you all.

For your coffee breaks

Eight amazing carols you won't hear this Christmas.

ASK FATHER: Mary was an “unwed mother”? The Holy Family were “refugees”?

An interesting read about the Christmas Collection led me to Filthy Lucre!

Why cook your own Christmas Dinner? THIS should be adopted universally!!

The BBC Genome Project - digitisation of Radio Times - has reached the end of the 1930s. Scroll down and click on a cover image. Background Blog HERE.

The Saint who punched a heretic!

Why is a packet of crisps like a violin? Three minutes from the Beeb.

A comment from Archbishop Cranmer on the suggestion the words to the Our Father might be changed.
