St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019

Very many congratulations to Molly & Mark!

A son, Arlo Patrick Grogan born 08:57 weighing 6lb 15oz on 4 January.
A brother for Collette! We're delighted, and wish you all well!

A very warm welcome was given to Michael Chapman.....

..... when he arrived at Choir on Tuesday 22 January as our new organist.

Michael is a extremely long-standing, accomplished and talented musician, and, importantly, a very experienced accompanist. We're delighted our prayers have been answered (thank you BVM) and look forward to him having a long and happy tenure with us. Thank you Michael!

The February Jigsaw - a very recent image to piece together this time! An easy one to help Richard's increasing jigsaw skills.....!!

Holy Week/Triduum

In the early part of February I intend to put together the music for Holy Week and the Triduum. I am open to suggestions until 8 February, within our capability!

St. Bart's Memories No. 22

Crown Imperial - St. Peter's Rome, 1990

Prayers, please

John Windsor, Jane's husband, is currently seriously ill in hospital after a bleed on the brain. Please do remember him and the family in your prayers. Jeannette Storace-Rutter's husband Wilfred's Funeral arrangements are  here. Jeannette sang Soprano in the Choir for very many years. Requiescat in Pace.

Please continue to remember Terry Jupp's sister Susan and a Choir Member's urgent Private Intention that is increasingly pressing.

We pray also for Veronica's sister Monica, Ken's niece Beth, Mary & Frank Elliott and Jeannette's mother Hazel.

For your coffee breaks

The symbolism of the Christmas stable scene from the great Father Z - sound only.

Ding, dong merrily! Choirs get you high. Courtesy of GC.

Classic FM - the nations favourite Christmas carols 2018.

The great Ambrosian Te Deum from Notre Dame, Paris (careful with the volume!!).

Volunteers wanted for an alternative Kyrie...

Some of you know Liverpool, but won't remember this!

Some of you will remember one-time tenor, George Norton.....

That Christmas Eve auction at Smithfield.

Gun Salutes in London during 2019.

When Poetry, Light, Warmth & The Seasons Were Used To Advertise The London Underground: Then & Now.

Plume Spotter - are you in the line of the pollution from the Beddington Incinerator?

Those of you on the lookout for a little additional income on the side, perhaps consider this?

New technology to wipe away the years from your skin - I'm not suggesting any of you need anything like this, of course....!

Email Bots; the nasty stuff you may have inadvertently sent/may send, to ALL in your email Address book

We all get fed up with spam emails.

Over the last year a number of you have had your email address book contacts hacked by bots that then send a spurious email purporting to be from you (usually a link to something nasty that, when clicked on, may take control their computers) out to everyone in your email Address Book.*

(*Since writing the above paragraph on 19 January (today is 25 January) it would seem that one Choir Member's email address has sent out spam emails to the point where it has been blocked by Spamhaus, which means it may, for so long as this remains, prove difficult to email them. Spamhaus is used by some email service providers to prevent the threats spread by spam emails.)

This remains a significant problem for those who still use @btinternet or @yahoo (which is one and the same ghastly service provider) email services despite repeated warnings over the last couple of years. Time to change? If you want a free email service provider I continue to recommend Gmail........ There are others.

Here's a useful way of at least knowing when you've compromised other so you are able to IMMEDIATELY change your email password so that it might not cause upset again.

Please help keep the email addresses of those you correspond with safe from such things in 2019

Those you send emails to can't do it for you; if you continue to use the services mentioned above it's up to you alone.

Still using Windows 7? Time to move on.....

From April this year Windows 7 will no longer receive general support from Microsoft. Critical security updates will be issued until January 2020 - there a few brief words outlining the potential implications HERE and HERE.
