St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2019

2019 Choir 50 Mass - 11:30 22 September

The next practice on Tuesday 17 September is a 'must attend' occasion, please. It will be our final rehearsal before our big occasion! A last reminder of the music we shall be singing. We will starting singing promptly at 20:00, so please get there early to finally sort your music.

Cantors - Jeannette (19:30) and Ken (19:45) promptly, please, on 17 September.

Archbishop John will (still not officially confirmed by Archbishop's House) be celebrating Mass for us with Father Philip as MC. Father Michael will also be attending, hopefully Father Paul, and, of course, Father Tomasz!!

Sadly, we bid farewell to Michael on 22 September

Another commitment is growing for him, and he is unable to accommodate us as well. We wish him well and thank him hugely for the time he spent with us and honouring his commitment to our big Mass. On Tuesday 24 September we will start another Novena. This will cause a re-think of our Christmas Concert programme. The Choir Committee will discuss it at their next meeting, which takes place on 26 September.

The September Jigsaw After last month's more difficult puzzle, this is easy-peasy! A well known location to many....?

Prayers, please

Please keep praying hard for a Choir Member's urgent Private Intention (which is, please God, possibly in the process of being being answered), Terry Jupp's sister Susan,  Veronica's sister Monica, Ken's niece Beth and Mary & Frank Elliott. This would be a good time to remember those who were in our Choir and have since passed away.

Father Tomasz Margol

Deo Gratias!

St. Bart's Memories No. 29

I wonder how many of you remember this occasion from 1999!?

For your coffee breaks

Get in quick if you want to join a Marble and Mosaic Tour of Westminster Cathedral.

My current favourite organ piece - Nocturne for an Orange by Porter Heaps.

Have you ever heard of Stambourne Woods?

The complete 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Whatever your politics one has to be impressed with this great blog entry from Fr. Z. and the video within it!

Turn off Love Island and join a choir - hat tip to Gordon C.

Why can't we make water? An interesting question...

July's edition of Phillip Tolley's great British Choirs on the Net.

Prom 19 this year was (sadly) on a Sunday morning - Oliver Latry (Notre Dame, Paris) was at the console at the RAH for an exhilarating recital.

A thoughtful first homily from our new Archbishop.

The Glass Armonica. Watch this and then The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy! Wonderful!!

Ruddy Muddy!

And finally - The 58 recycling symbols that shame us all.

We remember those from this choir who You have taken from us:

Peter Barter, Pauline Brinn, Yolantha Coombes, Stephen Cowie, Jan Czarnecki, Cliff da Costa, Peter Farrell, Joe Ferry, Christine Grogan, Beth Hale, Sally Hawksworth, Geraldine Hernon, Tom & Josie King, John Laker, John & Irene Mackesy, Eamonn Madden, Sheila Mahoney, Ursula Marshall,
Anne Mitra, Noel Murphy, Bunty Murray, Daphne Murtagh, Tom & Betty Pannell, Monica Pendlebury, Sibila Pinto, Bernadette Potter, Archie and Aurora Rigamonti-Jones, Tom Roe, Jim Rowntree, Edna Stanley, Kath Thomas, Joe Todd‑Pokropek, Doris Weeds and Eunice Yiannari.

Perhaps a special prayer for Father Carolin.......... in his wisdom in 1969 he asked Anne Rowntree to start a Polyphony Choir.

In your mercy, Lord.... hear our prayer.
