St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE  DECEMBER 2019

Christmas

Bernard and I recently met to talk through the difficult practicalities of Christmas (Concert and Midnight Mass) without an organist. As a result there have been changes made to our programme of music, and the final (hopefully) Music List were given out on 26 November and may be found HERE. Thank you, Bernard.

Rehearsals are now an absolute must for all of you please - we really can't afford to have people missing during the final stages of learning that needs to take place. Please prioritise the matters in hand. Thank you.

Please read the words below relating to our post-Christmas drinks and nibbles.

The December JigsawSt. Joseph holding baby Jesus by Guido Reni from about 1635 - trickier this month!

This will appear in the next issue of Update.

Prayers, please

A Choir Member's urgent Private Intention, (which is, please God, soon to be answered), Frances Carter (who remains in Mayday as I write), Maria who is recuperating after her operation), Terry Jupp's sister Susan, Maria, Veronica's sister Monica, Ken's niece Beth and Mary & Frank Elliott.

Please also remember Father Tomas Creagh-Fuller, curate with us from 2000-03, who passed away on 5 November soon after being appointed Parish Priest at Corpus Christi, Brixton Hill.

Have a wonderful Christmas

We're going through a tricky period without an organist, and I'm both acutely aware of it, and extremely grateful to you all for your continuing support. Thoroughly enjoy the Christmas season! I'll have a brief Update for January!

Post-Christmas Drinks & Nibbles

Our Post-Christmas drinks and nibbles on 7 January will (thanks to the First Holy Communion Group, who have very kindly relocated to the retro chapel) take place in in the downstairs hall. As you will all be aware the Upper Hall-proper is being used by the Nursery group under the terms of their contract with the Diocese. All that said, there is a now problem with the boilers in the hall, and, as I send this to you all, there are now doubts about the hall being available for use by anyone throughout! I'll let you know when I know......

Asperges 2019/20

Father Tomasz wants, happily, to reintroduce the Asperges at Masses on a regular basis during the year. The Asperges takes the place of the Penitential Rite, so no Kyrie will be needed - you will see I have noted the occasions they may be used in the latest Choir Dates List. That said, I am awaiting clarification as to Father Deo's intent on the matter. It makes it tricky to plan if only one of our priests, who may or may not be saying the Mass in question ............... I am also awaiting a reply to the question I posed on 13 November  'Will it be at all Masses by both priests on the selected dates? It impacts on our other Choirs and organists'. No reply yet! The joys of being DoM!

A very warm welcome to Deirdre.....

.... to our soprano numbers - we are delighted to have welcomed you, and hope you will enjoy your time with us.
