Dear all, The Queen's Platinum Jubilee With this in mind I have ordered, and am delighted to be able to share with you here, a piece of music commissioned for the occasion from Thomas Hewitt Jones by the Royal School of Church Music. I intend using it at our June Mass (or possibly July's). I don't often have the opportunity to send you new music in advance, so I'm hopeful some of you might be able to learn it, or, at least, become familiar with it, by the end of April. There are some audio rehearsal tracks for each part here which may help you (and one of the tracks me!). It's not difficult, honestly! New music for Good Friday As most of you will now know, it is my intention to use a small, very simple, unaccompanied piece by Orland Gibbons (Drop, drop slow tears) on Good Friday during the Veneration on The Cross. The music we will be using is available here. Print out the single page and then follow the recording to be found here to familiarise yourselves with it. A second opportunity to LFH (Learn From Home!). Triduum Music I was rather hoping to have a draft of the Music for the Triduum for you all by now, but Father Deo hasn't yet advised me of the Vigil Readings for this year so I'm unable to add in the necessary responses and allocate Cantors appropriately. As soon as I hear anything I'll complete the programme and send it on to you. Hopefully, Gerard will produce printed copies for distribution to you in due course. Other than the Psalms we have looked at most other items already (or, at least, recently), so we're on course.... St. Bart's Orchestra Concert - 19:00 Sunday 13 March 2022 A reminder of the St. Bart's Orchestra's forthcoming concert at St. John the Evangelist's church in Upper Norwood. A terrific programme of music! Mendelssohn, Mozart and Dvorak - click on the pic below for details. Choir Dates List 2022 The latest Dates List is to be found here. I hope you all have the relevant dates in your diaries, or printed and pinned to your notice boards! Forthcoming Poly Masses Herewith the anticipated Music Lists for our two Lent Masses, March and April. Forthcoming Plainchant Masses Herewith the anticipated Music Lists for the March and Palm Sunday Masses. Love, Tony x |

Prayers, please Please continue to pray for John, Jane (as she continues with her treatment of, and operations on, her eyes), Terry J. and Mary & Frank Elliott. Christine, Mary, Rosemary and (hopefully) Veronica intend to back with us at some stage soon. Terry F. hopes to return once she is more able to make the stairs. We're all looking forward to seeing them again (and hearing them!!) - especially you Altos!!! |

St. Bart's Memories No. 48 Who remembers this from 1969!? It traded as Westminster Wine (reduced to just one service hatch) soon after, and subsequently as Peter Dominic until it closed. I earned a few bob doing casual work here for many years whilst I was both at school and at college. It was always interesting meet members of the clergy, Choir and congregation as they shopped - no names! |
