Dear all,
Prayers before Choir Practice For so long as the situation remains as it is we will continue to recite the Hail Mary for Ukraine after singing the Salve Regina. We invoke St. Cecilia as the patron saint of music and musicians, Pope St. Gregory as the patron saint of singers, and St. Bartholomew as our parish patron saint.
Concert with the Orchestra in 2023? St. Bart's Orchestra celebrates its 50th Birthday next year. I have suggested, and Bernard has agreed, that we endeavour to have a joint concert at some stage to acknowledge such a huge milestone. The music will not be Orchestra + Choir throughout, but a concert during which we will hopefully be able to participate, and share a celebration of such an wonderful occasion. Bernard and I will be discussing this in due course. The very first time we joined forces with them was on Thursday 20 June 1974 at St. Andrew's School - does anyone have a programme from the occasion? Joan, might there be one on our scrapbooks? Watch this space!!
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Anthem Having looked again at In our Service, I see no reason why we should not use this again, on a Sunday that has relevance to ' The Service of Christ'. Accordingly we'll add it to our folders at Music Checking on 5 July.
Talking of Music Checking..... It's been a long while since we last sorted our music folders, so it is particularly important to get things done this year. There is an expectation that everyone will be present to sort their own folders. If for any unavoidable reason you are not able to be there, please arrange with a fellow chorister to have them do the deed for you.
Choir Dates List 2022 The latest, and NEW(!), Dates List, dated 1 July, is to be found here. Print and pin to your notice boards, Blu Tack to your fridges, transfer to your diaries etc., etc.!
Forthcoming Poly Masses Herewith the anticipated Music Lists for our July Mass and the Choir's annual Thanksgiving Mass on 20 September.
I'll be putting together the Masses for the autumn term and tentative music for Christmas over the summer, so if you have anything in our repertoire you'd particularly like me to consider including, then do feel free to let me know before the end of July.
First Holy Communion Masses 12 Noon 9/10 July If you're planning to attend Mass at Bart's on Saturday 9 and/or Sunday 10 July, would you be prepared to pop up into the gallery for the 12 Noon FHC Masses? I shall be playing, and both I and those receiving FHC, their families, the FHC Catechists and the clergy would really appreciate the support. The music will be the same as has been sung at FHC Masses for many years now. Draft Copy HERE. Please support our young parishioners.
Forthcoming Plainchant Masses Herewith the anticipated Music List for the July Mass. Please be prepared for this Mass to start at Noon, as the 10:00 Mass is the First Holy Communicants' Going Forth Mass (no singers required).
After the 'shock' of finding out that Father Gus didn't know Bring flowers of the rarest after the 29 May 11:30 Mass I'm now, more than ever, determined to follow in Jane's footsteps and keep the old and traditional Catholic hymns alive - any suggestions? They must be in our hymn book.... unfortunately. What a shame Faith of our Fathers isn't there....
Forthcoming Hymn Choir Masses The next 11:30 Hymn Choir Mass is on 24 July.
Love, Tony x

Prayers, please Please continue your prayers for Terry F. that she makes a complete recovery. Also for John, Jane (as she continues with her treatment of, and operations on, her eyes), Terry J. and Mary & Frank. Also..... It was lovely to welcome Christine back on 7 June. Mary E. has said she hopes to be back with us soon and Kitty hopes to return in September. Jan will be back when she returns home, and Veronica still intends to be back with us at some stage.
