Dear all,
It's been wonderful to welcome Marion to the Altos and Nhlanhla to the Sopranos within a couple of weeks of each other. I do hope you both enjoy your time with us, and wish you both longevity in your stay!!
July is busy..... our usual first-Sunday 11:30 Mass on 2 July, Music Checking (compulsory attendance, please) on 4 July, Choir Outing on 9 July and our Choir Party on 11 July. Then, you may have a break until September!!!
For those of you able to join us on the Choir Outing, a reminder that (strikes etc. permitting, as they look as if they will!) we'll join the 10:47 train at Norbury for Victoria, and wander round to Westminster Cathedral for the 12 noon Sung High Mass. I'll circulate the Music List as soon as it is published. Lunch will be at Browns in Cardinal Place, and the Choir will pay for the food, with you taking responsibility for your beverages. If we finish the meal in time, and should you wish to, there is sung Vespers in the Cathedral at 16:00.
Huge thanks to Suzanne for taking on the organisation of the food for our Choir Party, to Molly for organising the non-edibles, and to Jeannette for getting in the drinks and for her general oversight of what is always a happy and fun evening.
Please note in your diaries that Choir practices resume after the summer break on Tuesday 12 September - as in recent years, we return a little later than has been traditionally the case in September to allow those who take a post-schools summer hols to do so.
The Choir Committee meets next on Wednesday 20 September at Jeannette's home. If you wish to raise anything for discussion or consideration, please mention it to me, Jeannette, Molly, Sabina, Joan, Suzanne or Richard.
Looking forward to our first Mass in the Autumn (1 October), most will already be aware we have an Ave Maria by Rossini in place for the Recessional. I'm also intending to bring Selmeczi's Agnus Dei back into the mainstream repertoire next year. Music checking will reveal more! As I put together the Masses for next term, the draft music will appear on the Home page of our Website.
I've started putting together the Christmas music, and hope to circulate a draft to you all next month. It's always a bit terrifying to write these words in June, but.....!
Please ensure you have the Orchestra's 50th Concert on the evening of 26 November, at All Saints, West Dulwich, in your diaries and on your calendars. I'm still waiting on details of the time of the event, and the date and time of a rehearsal - hopefully the latter will be on the afternoon of the Concert. We'll be singing Lloyd Webber's Mass Prince of Peace with the All Saints choir for the Orchestra's 50th Birthday Concert. The Orchestra was born out of our Poly Choir.
Many thanks to those of you who were able to be present to sing at David Clark's Funeral Mass today, 28 June - it was appreciated by me, and most certainly by the Clark family.
Have a great summer break, and thank you so much for all you do; for the Choir, and for our Parish.
Love, Tony x

The confirmed music for 2 July.
Forthcoming Plainchant Masses
The proposed music for 16 July. There will be no prior rehearsal.
Forthcoming Hymn Choir Masses

Prayers, please
Please keep Christine, Maria, Terry F., Jane, Terry J. and Mary & Frank in your prayers. |

St. Bart's Memories No. 64
The summer term 2010 was busier than I remember! This was year before the new texts for the Mass were introduced. I have no idea our organist was at the time (possibly Daniel?), though I played at Bexleyheath. Click on the pic......
Fairly straightforward 42 pieces - St. Peter's Basilica! Crown Imperial in 1990 (and yes, it was hot in there!).
